Manhattan, NY (December 7) - The FDU-Florham Women's Track and Field team kicked off their indoor season today at the TCNJ Indoor Opener taking place at the Armory in New York City. The Devils took part in a number of different events and even broke some school records and earned some MAC qualifiers.
The star of the day for the Devils was
Meghan Kreinberg (Union, NJ). She first placed second in the Women's Shotput event, throwing a distance of 12 meters, which broke FDU-Florham's record, and qualified her for the MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. She then earned another silver, this time in the Women's High Jump, with a distance of 1.53 meters, another school record, and a MAC qualifier.
Four runners ran for FDU for the Women's 60-meter prelims, of which
Bianca Burke (Bridgewater, NJ)Â was the best, placing 26
th place with a time of 8.20 seconds. This broke the school record and was also a MAC qualifier.
Brianna Fenderson (Ederson, NJ) followed her in her Devils debut, placing 44
th with a time of 8.56 seconds.
Jade Emily Lino Downey (Bronx, NY) crossed the line with a time of 8.86 seconds, which placed her in 50
th. Â
Amara Stewart (Beaver, Pa.) rounded out the pack in her first race for the Devils, placing 54
th with a time of 9.97 seconds.
The Devils only ran one hurdler out for the Women's 60-meter hurdle prelims, as
Alyssa Orio (Middletown, NJ) performed admirably, placing 25
th with a time of 11.38 seconds.
Fenderson and Orio also ran the Women's 300-meter race and were joined by
Jyseniyah Francois (
East Orange, NJ). Fenderson placed 32
nd with a time of 45.77 seconds, which was yet another school record earned for the Devils. Right after her came Orio, with a time of 49.87 seconds, and Francois soon followed, placing 43
rd with a time of 55.46 seconds.
The 400-meter race only saw Burke take part in it, but she impressed, getting 9
th place out of 20 runners, scoring fourth in her heat with a time of 1:01.89. This also saw her break her second school record and earn her second MAC qualifier of the night.
FDU-Florham get to relax during their winter break, before hitting the ground running as they return back to the Armory in New York City to take part in the Ramapo Indoor Season Opener on January 17
th at 10:00 AM.
