Thomas Selected to Play in 2024 FCS National Bowl Game

Madison, NJ (December 3)- After completing a historical season with the FDU-Florham Football Team, senior quarterback Ryon Thomas (Mattapoisett, Mass.) will take his talents to Daytona Beach, Florida to participate in the 10th Annual FCS National Bowl on Sunday, December 8.

The FCS Bowl is an annual post-season college football all-star game consisting of the top players from college football FCS schools. The inaugural FCS National Bowl was played in December 2014 at FIU Stadium and moved to Daytona Beach Stadium in Daytona Beach, FL in 2016 which is home to FCS Bethune-Cookman Football. The National Bowl and FCS Bowl all star weekend for Non-FBS schools has been the only games of its kind to attract numerous NFL & CFL scouts.

The rosters of the FCS Bowl gives NFL/CFL scouts a chance to view and get to know some of the best players from smaller schools over the bowl weekend. The FCS National Bowl is coached by pro coaches and features coaches such as NFL Coach Mike Stock formerly of the Green Bay Packers, who is set to return and coach the FCS Bowl for the 2014 game in Miami, FL. The game has been attended by scouts from the NFL's St Louis Rams, Kansas City Chiefs, Atlanta Falcons, Miami Dolphins, Oakland Raiders, San Francisco 49er's, Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, and has even seen scouting directors fly in.  With its location in at FIU in Miami, the bowl weekend continues to gain scouts attention.. All 32 NFL teams receive and review the FCS National Bowl film as the game and practice film are distributed directly to all NFL teams by NFL Films.

The senior ended his final season on a high note as football was crowned the #3 seeded Centennial-MAC Bowl Champions, after a dominate 49-14 win over the Dickinson Red Devils. He recorded 18 of 25 completion attempts and gained 216 passing yards with one touchdown. Thomas also had 20 carries for 99 yards, with one touchdown.

On the season, he was seen at the top of the conference as he had the most passing completions (224), placed second in passing touchdowns (19), first in most yards (2676), and third in passing efficiency (157.5). His run game was also dangerous as he held the second most rushing touchdowns (14), ninth in total yards (645) and fifth in attempts (151) as a quarterback.

The FDU-Florham Football team started its season with a 5-0 record, the best start in program history, and ended with an overall record of 7-4 with a conference record of 5-4.
