Madison, NJ (December 14) FDU-Florham Women's Basketball took on their cross-town rivals Drew away from home. Unfortunately, Drew grabbed the victory by a score of 85-56.
FDU-Florham (3-8, 0-0 MAC Freedom) was led by
Kolby Lynch (Morristown, NJ), who scored 13 points and earned six steals on the defensive side.

Drew's (6-2, 3-1 Landmark) best player on the court was Ginna Pica who scored 19 points and eight rebounds.
The first quarter started with points from both sides. When
Bianca Sode (Kenilworth, NJ) hit a jumper, the score was tied at 4-4. Drew then went on a scoring run, going on a 7-1 scoring run that was ended by Lynch and
Shannon Tighe (Wayne, NJ) both hit shots to end it, but then the Rangers went on another run, this time an 8-2 run. Sode limited the damage by making a layup and free throw to close the first quarter, with the score being 19-14 in Drew's favor.
The second quarter carried the momentum from the first quarter, as Drew went on a 7-2 scoring run to open the quarter. Tighe hit a jumper to end the run, but the Rangers scored six of the next eight points. The Devils strung back-to-back shots together courtesy of
Kristen Mellon (Southampton, NJ) scoring a layup and
Christina Centeno (Bayonne, NJ) hitting a three-pointer to cut down Drew's lead. However, Drew took that in stride, and closed the half on a 19-4 scoring run, with Drew leading by a score of 53-29.
Gabrielle Walker (Old Bridge, NJ) scored the first points of the quarter for the Devils, but Drew continued to score in droves, opening the quarter on a 10-4 scoring run. Lynch scored the next four points in the game, hitting back-to-back four-point shots. The rest of the quarter was more even, as the Rangers only outscored FDU by one point. Sode and
Amaya Fifield (Cambridge, M.A.) scored multiple times in the remaining minutes, with Tighe scoring as well. At the end of the third quarter, Drew led by 25 points.
The last ten minutes started with a Devils run, as FDU outscored Drew 7-3 to open the fourth quarter. Lynch hit a jump shot to open the run, followed by Fifield making two free throws, and Centeno earning a three-pointer. Lynch then made a free throw to close the run. Drew scored the next eight points before
Ella Doud (Fairfield, NJ) made a layup to end the scoring run. Drew hit a three-pointer to close out the game, and the Rangers beat the Devils 85-56.
FDU-Florham shot 33.3% (24-72) from the floor, 11.8% (2-17) from three-point range, and 60.0% (6-10) from the free throw line, while Drew shot 38.9% (28-72) from the floor, 29.0% (9-31) from three-point range and 69.0% (20-29) from the free throw line.
Drew earned more points off turnovers (28-10), points from the bench (25-9) and fast break points (16-5). FDU earned more points off of second chances (13-10). Both teams tied on points in the paint (34-34).
The Devils will rest and relax during winter break before returning home to start conference play against King's (Pa.) on January 8
th. Tip-Off will be at 5:00 PM.
