Men’s Basketball Shuts Out St. Elizabeth, 83-65

Morristown, NJ (November 23) - The FDU Men's Basketball team wins for the first time on the road at St. Elizabeth, defeating the Eagles 83-65.  

The Devils were led by Jaqwan Washington (Bryan, TX) tallied 25 points for the Devils. Followed by Noah Pagan (Ringwood, NJ) with 13 and Christopher Smith (Florham Park, NJ) with 11 points.  

FDU opened the first half with a 14-5 run within the first 5 minutes of game play with Devils baskets from Washington, Carson Woods (Phoenix, AZ.) and Amir Williams (Bronx, NY). The Devils offensive momentum continued throughout the first half, as they maintained their lead with a 15 point gap at the 7:22 minute mark with a made layup by Washington. The Devils were able to sustain that gap as the first half ended with a score of 41-29. 

In the second half, the Eagles made an effort to close in on the Devils, as they were only behind by 10 points within the first minute of game play. FDU continued to power through St. Elizabeth's defense, taking the lead even further to a 20 point difference at the 12:38 timestamp, with 58-38 on the board. With 5 minutes remaining, FDU closed out with a 15-8 run, with Devils points coming from Smith, Jamal Santana (Randolph, NJ), Williams, Dart Siddons (Hillside, NJ), and Pagan. The Devils finished with a score of 83-65, earning their first win on the road. 

As a team, FDU-Florham shot 50.8 percent (31-61) from the floor, 33.3 percent (8-24) from three-point range, and 68.4 percent (13-19) from the free throw line. They totaled 36 points in the paint, 27 off the bench, and 15 off turnovers. 

St. Elizabeth shot 38.6 percent (22-57) from the floor, 21.7 percent (5-23) from three-point range, and 76.2 percent (16-21) from the free throw line. They totaled 28 points in the paint, 25 off the bench, and 21 off turnovers. 

FDU-Florham return home against John Jay on Sunday, December 1st. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
