Madison, NJ (October 9) – In the Wednesday evening MAC Freedom action, the FDU-Florham Volleyball team (9-10, 1-2 MAC Freedom) hosted the Stevens Ducks (13-4, 3-0 MAC Freedom) but were forced to leave their own pond as they lost 3-0.
FDU-Florham saw
Arianna Wood (Wayne, NJ) with four kills and seven digs, as
Samantha Schneider (South Brunswick, NJ) led the digs collum with nine and one service ace.
Set 1: FDU-Florham knew they had to keep up with Stevens's pace from the very start and they did so as the match saw five ties in the first fourteen points score. The Devils were not able to catch a spark until a kill by
Genevieve Fitch (Charlestown, SC) ignited the hope slowly. However, it was too late for the Devils to fully catch fire as they lost 25-16.
Set 2: Stevens started the second set even stronger as the score jumped from 11-4. A Kill by
Mackenzie Crandall (Shrewsbury, Mass) allowed slight progress to be made to catch the Ducks. FDU-Florham unfortunately was not able to keep up in the set again as they saw an almost identical set score of 25-15 in favor of Stevens.
Set 3: The Devils were able to tie the first set early with an attack by
Tayla O'Connor (Roxbury, NJ) and an extra point of a Ducks attack error. Stevens was able to see a comfortable spot ahead of FDU on the scoreboard and quickly capture the 25-12 set win and the 3-0 overall match win.
FDU-Florham will remain at home for their next MAC Freedom contest and match on Wednesday, October 16 at 7:00pm when they host Arcadia.
