New Paltz, NY (October 9) – In their final non-conference match of the season, The FDU-Florham Field Hockey Team traveled to New Paltz for Wednesday afternoon action but was blanked by a 3-0 score to the Hawks.

Host New Paltz got right to work as they scored their first of three goals almost six minutes into the game. FDU-Florham was unable to have any offensive luck as the defense was forced to play a large part. Before the quarter expired, the Hawks notched their second goal of the game, 2-0.
The second quarter did not hold goals for either team but did see New Paltz on the attack as they recorded seven shots, twelve total. The Devils were stopped halfway before they could create any offensive opportunity for a shot.
With about 41 total minutes in game time gone, the Hawks added their third and final goal. Shortly after, FDU-Florham had their first shot of the night as senior
Dominique Rodriguez (Pittsgrove, NJ) found the open shot but it was saved by the New Paltz goalie.
FDU-Florham had hoped for a fourth-quarter comeback but was unable to fulfill the prediction as they recorded another empty quarter of zero shots, which resulted in the final non-conference loss of the season, 3-0.
Senior
Emily Schlessinger (Asbury NJ) took the brunt of the New Paltz offense as she accounted for 11 saves in 52 minutes. Sophomore
Adrianna Goodwin ( Toms River, NJ) stepped in for the last portion of the game and was able to record three saves.
The FDU-Florham will face King's (Pa) for its first MAC Freedom match-up of the season on Saturday, October 12 at 1:00 pm. The game will be played in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.
