Men's Soccer Achieve Victory Against William Paterson, 3-2

Madison, NJ. (October 9) – The FDU-Florham Men's Soccer achieved victory against William Paterson 3-2. Christian Adame, Drilon Toska, and Piotr Widerynski all scored goals for the Devils.

Records: FDU-Florham (9-3-1); Willam Paterson (7-3-3)
Location: Madison, NJ: Robert T. Shields Field
FDU Goal Scorers: Christian Adame (5), Drilon Toska (12), Piotr Widerynski (3)

The game started out with opportunities from both the Devils and the Pioneers, as each team traded shots at the net. At 25:08, The Pioneers struck first, with a William Paterson player finding another in front of the net, giving them the 1-0 lead.

The Devils kept on pressing, and they found the breakthrough just before the half, as Christian Adame (Passaic, NJ) shot a ball that deflected off a William Paterson defender and into the net to equalize the game at one a piece. The match remained that way at the half.

FDU came back firing on all cylinders. At 56:39, Drilon Toska (Lincoln Park, NJ) unleashed a strike that the Pioneers goalkeeper couldn't handle to push the Devils into the lead 3-1. Then barely over two minutes later, Irfan Kermalli (Parsippany, NJ) found Piotr Widerynski (Ringwood, NJ) with a gorgeous pass that was slotted into the bottom corner of the net to extend the scoreline to 3-1.

The Pioneers wouldn't give up however, as at 67:28, a Pioneers player tapped the ball in front of the net to minimize the lead to 3-2. That's all William Paterson could get, as the Devils defense held firm, and the Devils picked up the 3-2 win.

Victor Ciach (Ringwood, NJ) had a productive match in the net, racking up six saves. The shot total was almost exactly even, as the Pioneers only shot once more than the Devils (19-18) while the shots on goal were exactly even (8-8). FDU dominated corner kicks (8-0) while also earning slightly more fouls (14-8).

The Devils will travel to Dallas, Pennsylvania to take on the Misericordia Cougars in MAC Freedom Conference action on October 12th at 3:00 PM.
