DeSales Attacks Volleyball for a 3-0 MAC Freedom Match

Dallas, PA (October 23) – In its final MAC Freedom road trip of the season, the FDU-Florham Volleyball Team (10-14, 1-5 MAC Freedom) faced the DeSales (10-15, 5-1 MAC Freedom) and saw the Bulldogs attack for a 3-0 win over the Devils.

The statistics showed that Samantha Schneider (South Brunswick, NJ) dug deep and totaled 13 kills, while Lilli Nawrotzki (Flemington, NJ) stayed up by the net for 13 assists. On the offensive front, Tayla O'Connor (Roxbury, NJ) led the way with 11 kills and Rachel Reiter (Riverside, Calif.) sent the ball back once for a block.

Set 1: DeSales started the set strong with three straight points but FDU-Florham was able to work their way back to tie it at 4-4. The score kept climbing for the Bulldogs as they once again found their footing and set a 9-20 score. O'Connor was able to get one final kill before the Devils lost the set by a 24-12 score.

Set 2: The Devils were more with the pace of the match in the second set as they were able to keep within four after a kill by Vanessa Freeman ( Piscataway, NJ), 12-8. The Devils were eventually able to tie the set at 14-14 but a big enough bite from DeSales caused the Devils to drop off before returning in the final points. A kill by Genevieve Fitch (Charleston, SC) brought the Devils closer to calling of the match point, but it was too late as the second set ended with a 25-22 score in favor of DeSales.

Set 3: A back-and-fourth start to the set was seen as five ties were seen in the first twenty points. DeSales was able to take a lead but the Devils did not fall far behind as a 19-16 score was seen after an attack error from DeSales. Unfortunately the match was cut short in three sets as the Bulldogs scored six points before the Devils were able to come within match point, resulting in a 25-21 third set score and a 3-0 overall match.

FDU-Florham will see their final non-conference match of the season at John Jay on Thursday, October 31 for a 7:00 PM contest.
