Game Recap: Volleyball |

Volleyball Falls to Misericordia, 3-1

Dallas, PA (October 23) – The FDU-Florham Women's Volleyball Team (10-13,1-4 MAC Freedom) traveled to the Misericordia Cougars (21-4, 3-2 MAC Freedom) for MAC Freedom action and were able to keep the match alive with a win on the third set, but fell to the Cougars in the fourth with a 3-1 overall score.
 
FDU-Florham saw Rachel Reiter (Riverside, Calif.) appear in the stats for three service aces and two blocks. Leading in the Kills for the Devils was Genevieve Fitch ( Charleston, SC) as she stated seven, while Lilli Nawrotzki (Flemington, NJ) produced twelve assists.

Set 1: Misericordia started the first set in a strong way as nine straight points were scored. FDU-Florham first point run of the game came and went as they were stopped at a 16-7 score. The Cougars continued to attack and eventually ended the set on a 25-10 score.  

Set 2: The Cougars were still able to claim the first pair of points in the set but the Devils were seen scoring three straight after kills by Gabbie Hart (Cherry Hill, NJ) and Mackenzie Crandall (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and a block by Hart. Things turned quickly back around as the lead was lost and a 15-3 was seen. FDU attempted to close the gap one last time with five straight aces but were unable to tame the Cougars and lost the set by a 25-14 score.

Set 3: From the very first point, the set seemed that it was going to be a close one as three ties were seen within the first 10 points. The Devils were able to take their first substantial lead of the evening, 12-6, before Misericordia came within one point, 13-12. FDU-Florham continued to let the heat rise as they secured their first set by a 25-17 score.
 
Set 4: FDU-Florham was hoping their momentum would carry through to the fourth set, but it was unable to do so an 18-4 run was seen to start. FDU-Florham was able to secure one additional point before Misericorida closed the set and match quickly with a 25-5 score and an overall 3-1 match.  

FDU-Florham will break for the weekend and then return to action at DeSales on Tuesday, October 29 at 7:00 PM for MAC Freedom action.
