Field Hockey is Defeated by Delaware Valley in Overtime, 4-3

Madison, NJ. (October 23) - The FDU-Florham Field Hockey Team was defeated by Delaware Valley in a close overtime match, with a final score of 4-3.

FDU Goal Scorers: Nicole Wood (1), Morgan Keller (1), Akayla Palmucci (1) 

The Delaware Valley Aggies were able to get a shot in goal early in the first quarter at the 4:23 minute mark. The score remained 1-0 until the second quarter at the 15:38 time stamp when the FDU Devils were awarded a penalty stroke, which was taken and scored by Nicole Wood (Whitehouse Station, NJ). The Devils continued their offensive efforts as Morgan Keller (Toms River, NJ) earned FDU its second goal of the quarter at the 17:54 minute mark, assisted by Dominique Rodriguez (Pittsgrove, NJ). The Aggies then earned their second goal off a penalty corner, bringing the score to 2-2 at the half.  
 

After the half, Devils sophomore Akayla Palmucci (Little Egg Harbor, NJ) earned her first goal of the season in the third quarter at the 31:33 timestamp, assisted by Rodriguez, as she earns her second assist of the contest. The score remained 3-2 for the rest of the quarter with the Devils in the lead. The Aggies were able to even the score to 3-3 within the first minute of the fourth quarter, scoring at the 45:50 time stamp. Neither the Aggies nor the Devils were able to get further the score, forcing the game into overtime.  
 

After a competitive few minutes of overtime, the match ended with an Aggies goal at the 63:28 minute mark, with a final score of 4-3.
 

The Devils led the match offensively in shots 25-14 (11-10 shots on goal) and in penalty corners 11-8. In goal for the Devils, was Emily Schlessinger (Asbury NJ) as she saved 5 of the 9 shots taken on goal by Delaware Valley. 


The FDU-Florham Devils will continue home against Misericordia for their Senior Day on Saturday, October 26th with a 5:00pm start.
