The first half saw action from both sides, as the goalkeepers in both nets were put to work early. FDU saw double the shot opportunities that Lebanon Valley got but couldn't put it into the net. When the match reached halftime, the score was 0-0.
The score remained that for the first 15 minutes of the second half, but something had to give eventually, and it went in favor of the Flying Dutchmen. At 61:24 A Lebanon Valley player passed directly to the left to another on the fast break, who buried it into the net to give the Flying Dutchmen a 1-0 lead.
That lead was expanded in the last 10 minutes of the match, as at 79:26, on a free kick from a dangerous spot, a Lebanon Valley player lashed the shot into the right side of the netting to bring the game to 2-0. That would remain the final score as Lebanon Valley defeated the Devils 2-0.
Victor Ciach (Ringwood, NJ) had a good night in net despite the loss, earning seven saves against the Flying Dutchmen offense. FDU held the edge in overall shots (29-20) while Lebanon Valley had more shots on goal (9-8). FDU once again dominated corner kicks (7-1) while the fouls were even in a very physical game (8-8).
The Devils will continue conference play with a match against DeSales at home on October 23. Kick off will occur at 7:00 PM.
