Madison, N.J. (October 14) – The FDU-Florham Men's Tennis Team saved the shortest distance of travel for their final meet of the fall season with a trip to Drew for a tri-match with Pratt. The Devils saw a 5-2 lost to the host but etched out a 4-3 victory over Pratt
Vs. Drew:
The Devils could only see one victory in the Double matches against the Rangers. Doubles #1 consisted of
Matthew Emery (Howell, NJ) and
Nick Weglinski (Wayne, NJ) surrounding their match to Arcari and Faro by a 6-3 score. Duo
Chase Miller (Freehold, NJ) and
Kelvin Liwag (Marlboro, NJ) saw the lone doubles win in the #2 as they easily won by a 6-0 score over Longa and Longenbach. Doubles #3 was forfeited by FDU as they were not able to fill the void against Reynolds and Sutaria.
Through the Singles portion of the match, FDU-Florham saw losses through Singles #1, #2, #3 as
Emery scored three against Arcari's eight in Singles #1. Liwag reached four points in Singles #2 before Mobayed reached eight points first for the win. Weglinski took the final loss of the Devils who played, as he lost 8-2 to Chhikara in Singles #3.
Miller saw the first win in Singles #4 with a sweeping 8-0 score over Longa.
Jaden Andresen (Branford, Conn.) followed with an 8-4 score over Sutaria in Singles #5. Unfortunately, FDU-Florham forfeited the last point as they were unable to fill the position, resulting in an overall 5-2 loss to the Drew Rangers.
Vs. Pratt
With two out of the three matches in the Doubles portion against the Cannoneers being won, the third was forfeited to Pratt due to FDU not being able to fill the match.
Emery and
Weglinski were partnered up in Doubles #1 and won by a 6-3 score over Liu and Zhang. In Doubles #2,
Liwag and
Miller soundly won by a 6-1 match over Park and Tillinghast.
In Singles #1,
Emery saw an 8-6 score over Zhang, but Liu defeated
Liwag to close the overall score with an 8-4 match win in Singles #2. Widening the gap even more was
Weglinski as he secured Singles #3 with a 8-4 score. With a 3-1 score so far,
Miller went ahead and claimed the winning point in Singles #4 after an 8-5 battle
. Andresen was the lone Devil to see a loss in the Singles portion against Pratt as he saw an 8-4 score against Cherry. The Singles #6 point was taken by Pratt as FDU forfeited by a lack of a player. FDU-Florham overall won by a 4-3 score.
FDU-Florham will rest and train during the winter months as they are now looking towards the spring for their next match.
