Bethlehem, PA (October 10) – In a rescheduled non-conference match at Moravian (3-0), the FDU-Florham Women's Tennis team (1-4) saw a 7-0 loss against the Greyhounds in Thursday afternoon action.
FDU-Florham only saw two points scored during the Doubles portion of the match as
Meliha Bektesevic and
Paula Vanegas (Guttenberg, NJ) notched the two points in Doubles #1 before losing 6-2 overall to Szmodis and Zolotareva. Both Doubles #2 and #3 resulted in 6-0 scores as
Ona Summer (Washington, NJ) and
Giavana Caraccioli (Bound Brook, NJ) saw their loss come from Kalorin and Willis in Doubles #2 ,and Gower and Shifman stole the remaining point in Doubles #3 from
Haidy Abdelmonem (Linden, NJ) and
Marilu Guzman (Newark, NJ).
The Singles portion also held about the same result for the Devils as they were only able to score two points before being handed 6 straight losses.
Bektesevic was the lone Devil to score against her opponent, Zolotareva, in Singles #1, 6-2, 6-0.
Ona was seen playing in Singles #2 but was stopped in her tracks by a 6-0,6-0 score from Szmodis. Another 6-0, 6-0 loss was seen in Singles #3 with
Vanegas receiving the loss from Shifman.
The back half of the Singles matching had
Caraccioli losing 6-0, 6-0, to Willis in Singles #4, Kalorin stamping another 6-0, 6-0 score in Singles #5 over
Guzman, and
Abdelmonem surrendered Singles #6 by a 6-0, 6-0 score to Gower.
FDU-Florham looks down the street to Drew University for their next match on Sunday, October 13 when they face Drew in Pratt in a tri-match.
