Men's Tennis Completes Final Set Comeback Over Moravian, 4-3

Bethlehem, PA (October 11)- In a rescheduled non-conference match, the FDU-Florham Men's Tennis Team (2-2)  saw a 4-3 comeback win over the Moravian Gray Hounds (2-1) after losing the Doubles portion point but securing four Singles matches on tie-breakers.

The match started in the sight of not being in the favor of FDU-Florham as Matthew Emery (Howell, NJ) and Ronald Duval (Old Bridge, NJ) gave a valiant effort in Doubles #1, but lost by a 7-5 score to Marshall and Pimentel-Ferrer. The same results were produced in Doubles #2 as Kelvin Liwag (Marlboro, NJ) and Nick Weglinski (Wayne, NJ) lost to Farhad and Ronca in a 7-5 score. The Gray Hounds, Kelly and Labaddia, were able to secure the final set against Jaden Andresen (Branford, Conn.) and Chase Miller (Freehold, NJ) for a 6-1 score in Doubles #3.

With the 1-0 advantage heading into the Singles Portion of the dual match, Singles #6 was the first match to finish as Andresen competed against Morris but was not able to bring in the first point for the Devils, 6-2, 6-3. Miller in Singles #5 however was able to do so as he won against Lebby for the first point of the game with a 6-1, 6-1 score and a 10-5 tiebreaker. The score was able to be evened out after Emery finished Singles #1 next and walked away with a 6-2, 6-2 score and the 10-5 tiebreaker over Rona.

With the overall match score even at 2-2, Duval knew that his Singles #2 match was also crucial as he too was forced to head into a tiebreaker set, 6-3,6-3, 10-7, that turned out to be FDU's third point. The score was once again balanced after Liwag put up a fight against Goldenberg, but lost Singles #3 by 6-4, 6-0, 11-9 scores.

It came down to the first year, Weglinski, in Singles #4 who went into the tiebreaker to decide who won not only the set but the entire match. He fought through a 6-1, 7-5 score and was able to secure the match point on a 10-7 score over Labosky, resulting in a 4-3 overall win for FDU-Florham

FDU-Florham is scheduled to face Drew on Sunday, October 13 at 9:00 AM as their last match of the fall.
