Game Recap: Volleyball |

Volleyball Beaten By Lebanon Valley, 3-0

Annville, Pa. (September 10) – The FDU-Florham Volleyball team (8-8, 1-1 MAC Freedom) traveled to Lebanon Valley (9-6, 1-1 MAC Freedom) and was beaten in straight sets for a 3-0 score of the MAC Freedom match.

The star of the game for the Devils was Genevieve Fitch (Charleston, SC), who racked up nine kills in the match. For the defense, Kiara Salme (Lyndhurst, NJ) lead the way, picking up 12 digs for FDU.

Set 1: The Devils started off strong, earning three straight points to start the match. However, the Flying Dutchmen clawed back, earning five of the next six points to take a 5-4 lead. The Devils wouldn't give up, scoring four of the next five, including a service ace from Amaya Ocasio (Secaucus, NJ), taking the lead back 9-6. Unfortunately, Lebanon Valley went on an 11-3 run, including taking four straight points twice, to take a commanding lead at 17-12. Both teams traded points afterward, but a 4-point run at the end to take it to 24-16 in Lebanon Valley's favor all but ended the set. A Flying Dutchmen kill did end it with Lebanon Valley winning the first set 25-18.

Set 2: Both teams traded the first few points, but at a score of 5-3 in Lebanon Valley's favor, the Flying Dutchmen rattled off six straight points to create a 11-3 lead. The Devils fought back, and scored nine of the next 13 points, including a service ace from Arianna Wood (Wayne, NJ). Sadly, the Flying Dutchmen took control of the set, winning the last 10 of 12 points to win the set 25-14 and to go up 2-0 in sets.

Set 3: The third set started as a reverse from the first, as Lebanon Valley scored the first three points of the set. The Devils tied the match at six a piece, and the next few points were traded. At 11-11, the Flying Dutchmen rattled off a four-point run, and although points were traded after that, another three-point run from Lebanon Valley to make it 21-15 would put the game out of reach. After a few more traded points, Lebanon Valley secured the last kill and won the third set 25-18 and the match 3-0.

FDU-Florham will travel back home to take on the Beavers of CCNY in non-conference action on Thursday, October 3rd at 7:00 PM.
