Madison, NJ (September 18) – The FDU-Florham field hockey team allowed only five shots total to Gwynedd Mercy with a lone shot on goal as the Devils shut out the Griffins, 3-0 on Monday night. Tonight's game was the rescheduled contest from September 8.

The Devils got things going early with two goals in the first quarter.
Akayla Palmucci (Little Egg Harbor, NJ) dribbled around multiple Griffin defenders and placed a perfect ball past the goalie at just the 2:40 mark for the 1-0 lead.
Megan Surgent (Wall, NJ) was awarded a penalty stroke at the 12:58 timestamp that she was able to capitalize on to give the Devils the 2-0 advantage.
The last goal of the contest came when a scrum for the ball in front of the Griffins cage was taken advantage of by
Julianna Medina (Linwood, NJ) pushed a ball over to
Rachel McHale (Montville, NJ), who was able to sneak the ball past the goalie for the 3-0 edge.
Junior goalie
Emily Schlessinger (Asbury, NJ) got the win in the cage but faced no shots on goal during her minutes.
Emily Prachthauser (Morristown, NJ) went in relief of Schlessinger and made a save on her only shot faced.
FDU had most of the offensive chances today, outshooting Gwynedd Mercy, 15 to 5 including 10 to 1 with shots on goal. They also seven penalty corners to the Griffins three.
FDU hits the road once again as they travel to take on Montclair State on Wednesday, September 20 for a 7:00 pm matchup.
