O’Connor and Madsen Elevated to Associate Athletic Director Positions

Madison, NJ (September 1)- As announced by Director of Athletics Kristin Giotta, Head Men's Soccer coach Keith O'Connor and Head Volleyball Coach Jason Madsen, have both been elevated to Associate Athletic Director positions effective immediately on Friday morning.

O'Connor will assume the role of Associate Athletic Director for Compliance, while Madsen will take the role of Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations.

"The department is thrilled to promote Keith and Jason as Associate Athletic Directors." Giotta stated. "During their time at FDU, they have exhibited the qualities and characteristics to be successful administrators. I look forward to their leadership and collaboration to help continue to propel Devils Athletics forward."

Keith O'Connor has been a member the FDU-Florham Athletic staff is 2019, serving as the Head Men's Soccer coach as well as playing a pivotal role assisting Kristin Giotta with athletic compliance. O'Connor also brings administrative experience to the position as a former Athletic Director at Centenary University in New Jersey.

During his time as the head men's soccer coach, he his put together a 24-23-10 overall record, led the Devils to the MAC Freedom Playoffs and notched his first postseason win at FDU-Florham last season and has coached seven All-MAC Freedom players.

Before his time at Fairleigh Dickinson, he served as the men's soccer coach for Centenary University in New Jersey for 14 seasons from 2004-2017. He amassed 128 career wins, 10 postseason appearances and a pair of NCAA Tournament wins.

O'Connor also had assistant coaching stints with Delaware University (2001-2004) and Ridgewood High School and enjoyed a successful playing career at Loyola University of Maryland.

"I'd like to thank our Director of Athletics, Kristin Giotta, and the search committee for allowing me the opportunity to work with our student-athletes through their academic and athletic careers at Fairleigh Dickinson University." Said Keith O'Connor.

Jason Madsen, has been with FDU-Florham for seven years, starting back in 2017 with his role as the Head Volleyball Coach. Madsen serves as the Vice President of the Professional Administrative Senate which represents nearly 500 full-time professional administrative and support staff who provide critical services for students, faculty, and staff across multiple campuses of Fairleigh Dickinson University. He is also active in the athletic department in Florham, serving as the coordinator for the Athletic Work Study Program.

During his time as head volleyball coach, he has accumulated a 74-69 record, has made the MAC Freedom Tournament twice and has coached three student-athletes on to the All-MAC Freedom team.

Before his time at Fairleigh Dickinson, he had coaching stints with both the College of Staten Island and Rutgers-Newark. He also earned his bachelor's degree at Stockton Univeristy.

"I look forward to helping her achieve her goals set forth as the Director of Athletics and to assist the department in any way that I can. I am also excited at the opportunity enhance the experience of our student athletes and my colleagues within the department while also being a positive contributor to the FDU community. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and look forward to getting to work in helping make FDU Athletics SOAR!"
