Glenside, PA. (April 1) – The FDU-Florham men's lacrosse team (5-7, 1-2 MAC FREE) went on the road in MAC Freedom action and took down King's (0-10, 0-3 MAC FREE), 23-7 on Saturday afternoon.
Lucas Berghahn (Poughkeepsie, NY) led the way or the Devils with seven points on four goals and three assists.
Brian Stewart (Narbeth, Pa.) followed closely behind with six points on three goals and three assists.
Dalton Povilaitis (Jefferson, NJ) went the distance in net for FDU to pick up his fifth win of the season in goal while making 12 saves while also leading the team in ground balls with seven.
For King's, Ryan Lynch got the hat trick with three goals and an assist in the game. Joe Plachcinski suffered the loss at goalie for the Monarchs while making nine saves.
Despite surrendering a goal in the first minute of the game, the Devils shot back with five unanswered goals including two from B. Stewart for a 5-1 lead. Kings retaliated with two goals after but
Robert Nawrocki (Northfield, NJ) found a goal just before the quarter end to give the Devils a 6-3 edge into the second quarter.
The Devils extended their lead to 9-3 on three straight goals before the Monarchs cut into the lead before half with two of their own to make the score 9-5 FDU going into the second half.
King's outscored FDU in the third quarter but the Devils pushed away in the fourth quarter as they held the Monarchs to just one goal while they put in five of their own to seal the conference victory.
As a team, The Devils took 48 shots with 25 on goal, accumulated 36 ground balls and caused eight turnovers. FDU also succeeded on 22 of its 24 clears.
King's as a team, took 38 shots with 21 on goal and picked up 23 ground balls. The Monarchs also went 20-for-23 on clear attempts.
FDU-Florham returns to Robert T. Shields Field Wednesday, April 12 for a night cap with Delaware Valley starting at 6:00 pm.
