Nawrocki Nails Game Winner for Men’s Lacrosse Against Delaware Valley, 13-12

Madison, NJ. (April 12) – With just 13 seconds left on the clock, Robert Nawrocki (Northfield, NJ) nailed the game-winning shot off a pass from Micheal Stewart (Narbeth, Pa.) to help the FDU-Florham men's lacrosse team (6-7, 2-2 MAC FREE) went on the road in MAC Freedom action and took down Delaware Valley (6-7, 2-2 MAC FREE), 13-12 on Wednesday evening.
 
Lucas Berghahn (Poughkeepsie, NY) and Brenden Fabin (Randolph, NJ) each led the team with four points on the day with Berghahn tallying four goals while Fabin had a hat trick and an assist. Trevor Arnone (Poughkeepsie, NY) won 11 of 25 faceoffs, picked up a team-high eight ground balls and scored two points on the day for the Devils with a goal and an assist
 
Dalton Povilaitis (Jefferson, NJ) notched the win in goal for the Devils as he made nine saves on the night
 
For the Aggies, Jack Sprinkle led the way with seven points on four goals and three assists followed by Jack Aulisi who had a hat trick and two assists for five points.
 
Despite being credited with the loss in cage for Delaware Valley, Aidan Purcell notched a season-high 20 saves during the night cap.
 
First-year Joseph Misurelli (Ridgefield, Conn.) started off the games scoring with a goal at the 9:56 mark in the first quarter. The Aggies created a run with four unanswered goals in the first but just before then end of the quarter, Brian Stewart (Narbeth, Pa.) chipped in a loose ball in front of the cage to cut the lead to 4-2 Delaware Valley heading into the second quarter.
 
The second period was all Devils as they outscored the Aggies 7-2 in the quarter. The quarter included three goals from Berghahn, one of which was sunk in right as the horn hit to end of the half to give FDU a 9-6 lead at halftime.
 
The third quarter was a back-and-forth period with FDU outscoring Delaware Valley, 3-2 to take a 12-8 advantage into the final quarter of play.
 
The fourth quarter saw the Aggies attempt to mount a comeback as a man-up goal by Aulisi sparked a 4-0 fourth quarter run with another goal by Aulisi tying the game, 12-12 with 2:25 left to go in regulation. A costly penalty by Delaware Valley gave the Devils the man up opportunity they needed and after working the ball around the perimeter, Nawrocki saw his opening and capitalized to help FDU win its second straight MAC Freedom game
 
As a team, The Devils took 54 shots with 33 on goal, accumulated 44 ground balls and caused 16 turnovers. FDU also succeeded on 14 of its 17 clears.
 
Delaware Valley as a team, took 33 shots with 21 on goal and picked up 40 ground balls. The Aggies also went 18-for-29 on clear attempts.
 
FDU-Florham travels to Dallas, Pa. for a MAC Freedom matchup with Misericordia on Saturday, April 15 with the game scheduled for a 1:00 pm start
