Madison, NJ (April 3)- FDU-Florham Sports Information Director Max Berkowitz will be stepping down from his position to accept the position of Assistant Athletic Director for Communications at Springfield College in Massachusetts. In his absence, Assistant Sports Information Director Justin Connolly and Sports Information Graduate Assistant Meghan Barone will handle the day-to-day operations in the Athletic Communications Department.
"First, I want to congratulate Max on his new position at Springfield. Athletics is truly grateful for the tremendous job he has done with our sports information department over the last two years. We have made incredible strides in developing new initiatives to help keep our teams, department and student-athletes at the forefront of NCAA D3 athletics." Giotta stated.
Berkowitz spent just about two years as the Sports Information Director for the Devil's Athletics Program, serving as the primary contact for all 22 Division III athletic teams. Max worked diligently to provide the best product the department could provide including gameday management, stat keeping, producing live stream video, social media management, player bios, player awards and more. He was also very involved in the Devils Athletic Hall of Fame nominations and ceremony as well as the production of the Annual Robert T. Shields Golf Outing.
During his time here, Berkowitz also took pride in the teaching and development of all of his assistants and student workers to provide them with an introduction to the ins and outs of the field and help them grow into professionals in the field.
"I can not thank Max for choosing me to be his full-time assistant and for everything he has done over the year to help me be the best professional I could be for this Athletic Department," said Connolly. "I am not only a better professional from the year I got to work with him, but I am also a better person for getting to know him and his experience."
"I don't know where I would be without Max's guidance. He truly enhanced my skills and has helped prepare me to take the next step in my SID career," said Meghan. "Max has made my transition from a college to the 'real world' as smooth as possible and I cannot thank him enough for the numerous lesson he has taught me."
Max will bring more than eight years of experience in the field of collegiate athletics to Springfield as well as professional experience working for the Somerset Patriots, Providence Bruins, Boston Cannons and Falmouth Commodores. Berkowitz has also served as a member of several Division III sports committees and sports communication organizations.
"I would like to thank everyone at FDU for the opportunity that they provided me over the past two years. I would especially thank Kristin Giotta and Jenn Noon for believing in me to transform and elevate the Sports Information Office to places its never been before." said Berkowitz. "A huge thanks also goes out to my assistants Justin Connolly and Meghan Barone for pushing to make me better everyday and doing all they did for the Devils student-athletes. Without them and without FDU, I would not have been given this opportunity at Springfield and for that I am thankful."
