Madison, NJ (April 19) – The FDU-Florham Men's tennis team clinched the second seed in the MAC Freedom tournament, with a 9-0 win over Arcadia, Wednesday afternoon. With the clinic in the tournament, the Devils will make their 10th consecutive appearance since the 2011-2012 season.
After tonight's matchup, FDU-Florham sits at 7-4 overall and 5-1 in the league, while Arcadia fell to 4-5 and 1-4 in conference matches.
The Devils started this afternoon's match by winning all three doubles contests for the early 3-0 advantage. At No. 1 doubles
Tyler Crook (East Orange, NJ) and
Joni Carasso (Buenos Aries, Argentina) outscored Arcadia's Francis Tamesis and Jonathan Noble, 8-2. No. 2 Doubles
Zach Puccia (Red Bank, NJ) and
Brandon Schwartz (Gladwyne, PA) were given a run, but were able to pull the 8-5 win over Matthew Nagy and Ryan Salmon.
Karanveer Saini (Punjab, India) and
Quinn Carmody (Hingham, Mass) won their match at No. 3 Doubles with a score of 8-2.
FDU-Florham won all six singles matches in straight sets. No. 1 Singles, Crook, defeated his opponent in scores of 2-6, 6-4. With scores of 6-0, 6-0, No. 3 Singles Puccia defeated Arcadia's Matthew Nagy soundly. The Devils No. 5 and No. 6 Singles,
Matthew Emery (Howell, NJ) and Karanveer defeated their opponents by scores of 8-0.
FDU will host Wilkes on Saturday, April 22 at 9am for it's final MAC Freedom match of the regular season. The Men's program will honor their seniors after the match as apart of Senior day.
