Madison, NJ (April 16) – The FDU-Florham women's tennis team (1-8, 0-5 MAC FREE) was blanked at home by Lycoming (7-7, 2-3 MAC FREE), 9-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Devils fell behind the Warriors, 3-0 after doubles action. Emily Wolfgang and Emma Kelchner defeated the pairing of
Maggie Cronkhite (Deep River, Conn.) and
Ella Olsen (Holmdel, NJ), 8-1. Rei Saar and Haley Seebold took down the duo of
Ashley Gaetani (Ridgefield Park, NJ) and
Emily Prachethauser (Morristown, NJ), 8-2 and the team of
Kiana Rosa (Haledon, NJ) and
Paula Vanegas (Union City, NJ) we beaten, 8-4 by the team of Sarah Lanphear and Greta Kimble, 8-4
In singles action, the matchup of Cronkhite and Wolfgang went into a third set with each competitor winning a 6-4 set but Wolfgang took the match with a 6-1 third set. Olsen was downed by Saar, 6-2 and 6-1 while the match clinching victory came from Kelchner as she defeated Gaetani, 8-3. Lycoming completed the sweep with Seebold taking down Vanegas (6-1 and 6-4), Lanphear blanking Rosa (6-0 and 6-0) and Kimble beating Prachthauser (6-3 and 6-0).
FDU-Florham hosts MAC Freedom opponent Arcadia on Tuesday, April 18 at 3:30 pm.
