Dallas PA, (April 14) – The FDU-Florham Men's tennis team topped Misericordia University, 9-0 in MAC play, this afternoon.
After tonight's matchup, FDU sits at 5-4 overall and 3-1 in the league, while Misericordia fell to 1-8 and 0-4 in conference matches.
The Devils started tonight's match by winning all three doubles contests for the early 3-0 advantage. At No. 1 doubles
Zach Puccia (Red Bank, NJ) and
Brandon Schwartz (Gladwyne, PA) hung on for the win as they defeated Zach Hemond and Dalton Alexander, 8-7. No. 2 Doubles
Matthew Emery (Howell, NJ) and
Ronald Duval (Old Bridge, NJ) won their match soundly as they defeated Misericordia 8-0.
Karanveer Saini (Punjab, India) and
Quinn Carmody (Hingham, Mass) won their match at No. 3 Doubles with a score of 8-1.
FDU won all six singles matches in straight sets. At No. 4 singles, Saini defeated Misericordia's Hunter Weselowski by scores of 6-0, 6-0. No. 5 singles Schwartz followed in his footsteps and also defeated his opponent Karol Bialek by scores of 6-0, 6-0.
FDU will host Lycoming on Sun, April 16 at 1:00 pm for a MAC Freedom match as the make-up date from April 8.
