Madison, NJ (March 8) – Kean University defeated the FDU-Florham men's lacrosse team by a 21-3 final in non-conference action on Wednesday night on Robert T. Shields Field.
FDU-Florham (3-3) saw
Lucas Berghahn (Poughkeepsie, NY),
Brenden Fabin (Randolph, NJ) and
Robert Nawrocki (Northfield, NJ) contribute goals in the effort. Defensively,
Rob Lucchesi (Charlotte, NC) tallied a team-high six ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Kean (3-0), who was paced by a four goal and five point effort by Dylan Johnson, jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first and led by a 9-3 tally at the break. From 8:53 left in the second to the final buzzer, Kean outscored FDU-Florham by a 16-0 margin, which included a 12-0 differential in the second half.
The Cougars held statistical advantages in shots (54-30) and ground balls (39-29). FDU-Florham went 16-for-19 on clearing attempts, while Kean went 20-for-23 in transition. FDU-Florham was able to score once on the man-advantatge.
In net,
Dalton Povilaitis (Jefferson, NJ) made 12 saves for the Devils over the opening 47:25 of the contest before
Matt Reifer (Newtown, Pa.) came on in relief.
FDU-Florham will travel down to Florida for a pair of contests next week starting with a matchup with UMass-Boston on Tuesday, March 14 at 5:00 pm.
