Davenport, Fla. (March 14) – Despite suffering a 23-11 setback to UMass-Boston in its first game in Florida, FDU-Florham sophomore goalie
Dalton Povilaitis (Jefferson, NJ) broke the single game record for saves with 26 in today's matchup at the Northeast Regional Sports Complex in Davenport, Florida.
Povilaitis made 26 saves this afternoon for the Devils (3-4) in a complete game effort breaking the old mark of 24 set by Adam Reifer back in 2018 against Wilkes. On the offensive side of the ball,
Lucas Berghahn (Poughkeepsie, NY) had a career-day with seven goals and one assist for eight points.
UMass Boston (3-3) was guided by a five goal and four assist night from Gavin Admirand. The Beacons dominated at the face-off X as Jack DiFalco-Wheeler, Jason McNeany and Matt Lucozzi combined to go 31-of-36 with 18 ground balls.
After both teams traded goals to open the game, UMass-Boston went on a 7-1- run for a 9-3 lead after the first. Berghahn scored twice for FDU-Florham in the second and the score stood at 13-6 in favor of the Beacons at the break. Down the stretch, Berghahn netted a pair of man-up goals from
Michael Stewart (Narbeth, Pa.), but it was too late as UMass-Boston won by a 23-11 final.
The Beacons lead statistically in shots (84-36), ground balls (69-35) and faceoffs (31-36). UMass-Boston also went 22-for-25 on the clear and 2-for-5 on the man-advantage. FDU-Florham ended the game with a 26-for-33 effort in transition and scored twice on the man-advantage.
FDU-Florham will wrap up its trip south with a game against Lake Forest on Saturday, March 18 at 11:00 am.
