Davenport, Fla. (March 18) – FDU-Florham men's lacrosse attempted to rally from an 11-0 deficit this afternoon against Lake Forest College in Florida and outscored the Foresters by a 10-5 margin the second half, but ultimately fell by a 13-10 final on the final day for the Devils down south.
FDU-Florham (3-5) was led offensively by
Lucas Berghahn (Poughkeepsie, NY) and
Trevor Arnone (Poughkeepsie, NY) with two goals apiece. Arnone registered nine ground balls and went 18-for-26 at the face-off X today. Lake Forest (6-3) was guided by Brendan Herbert with five goals as well as Conor Murphy with six ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Lake Forest scored the first 11 goals of the game before Arnone scored a man-down goal for the Devils early in the third. Over the final 21 minutes of the game, FDU-Florham outscored Lake Forest, 9-1, including three goals on the man-advantage to account for the 13-10 final.
Lake Forest held a 46-423 edge in shots and a 44-38 margin in ground balls and went 24-for-26 on the clear. FDU-Florham went 3-for-8 on the man-advantage and 19-for-27 on the clear.
Dalton Povilaitis (Jefferson, NJ) made 12 saves in the effort for the Devils, while Jacob Lipson stopped seven shots in net for Lake Forest.
FDU-Florham will head to Mount Saint Mary's (NY) for its final non-conference regular season contest of the year on Wednesday, March 22 at 5:00 pm.
