Brooklyn, NY (March 30) – The FDU-Florham women's tennis defeated Saint Elizabeth University, 9-0, for its first win of the 2022-23 season this afternoon on the road. FDU-Florham is now 1-2 on the season with MAC Freedom play opening on Saturday.
At No. 1 doubles
Maggie Cronkhite (Deep River, Conn.) and
Ella Olsen (Holdmel, NJ) defeated Melissa Evers and Keyera Williams, 8-3. FDU-Florham took a 3-0 lead after doubles as
Ashley Gaetani (Ridgefield, NJ) and
Emily Prachthauser (Morristown, NJ) won 8-5 at No. 2, while
Paula Vanegas (Union City, NJ) and
Kiana Rosa (Haledon, NJ) won 8-2 at No. 3.
The Devils won all six singles matches to secure the 9-0 win today. Cronkhite eased past Evers, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1, Olson won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2, Gaetani won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3, Vanegas won 3-6, 6-2, 13-9 at No. 4, Prachthauser won 7-6, 6-3 at No. 5 and Rosa won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6.
FDU-Florham will travel to King's College to open MAC Freedom play on Saturday afternoon.
