Morristown, NJ (March 29) – The FDU-Florham men's tennis team won its first dual match of the year as the Devils blanked Saint Elizabeth University, 9-0, on Wednesday afternoon.
FDU-Florham (1-2) was guided by
Zach Puccia (Red Bank, NJ) who won the 50th match of his career this afternoon in singles play against the Eagles (0-3).
The Devils won by 8-0 scores at all three doubles positions.
Joni Carasso (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and
Tyler Crook (East Orange, NJ) played at No. 1, Puccia and
Brandon Schwartz (Gladwyne, Pa.) played at No. 2 and
Ronald Duval (Old Bridge, NJ) and
Matthew Emery (Howell, NJ) won at No. 3.
All six singles matches were decided in straight sets. Crook won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1, Puccia won his 50th career match at No. 2, 6-0, 6-0, Duval won 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3, Emery won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4,
Karanveer Saini (Punjab, India) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and Schwartz won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
FDU-Florham will travel to Brooklyn College for a non-conference matchup tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 pm.
