Montclair State Tops Men's Lacrosse, 17-6

Madison, NJ (March 2) – The FDU-Florham men's lacrosse team fell to Montclair State University, 17-6, in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon at Robert T. Shields Field.

FDU-Florham (3-2) was paced by Lucas Berghahn (Poughkeepsie, NY) with two goals and two assists for six points to go along with three ground balls and a caused turnover. Defensively, three Devils registered four ground balls apiece including Zachary Van Zile (Kinnelon, NJ), Rob Lucchesi (Charlotte, NC) and Brenden Fabin (Randolph, NJ).
 
Montclair State (2-1) was guided by Tyler McCreery and Mike McCreery with six points apiece in the win. Lucas Novack scooped up seven ground balls and won 12-of-17 of his face-offs at the X.

Ronnie Trisuzzi (Rockaway, NJ) scored the game's first goal less than four minutes into the contest, but Montclair State outscored FDU-Florham 8-1 over the remaining 26 minutes of the half for an 8-2 lead at the break. Berghahn and Trisuzzi both scored for the Devils in the third, while Michael Stewart (Narbeth, Pa.) and Brian Stewart (Narbeth, Pa.) scored for FDU-Florham in the fourth before Montclair ended the game with five straight scores for the 17-6 final.
 
Montclair State led statistically in shots (49-37) and ground balls (47-28). Novack and Andrea Fiorenza won 18-of-26 faceoffs for the Red Hawks and David Metzger made ten saves in a complete game effort for the visitors.

FDU-Florham keeper Dalton Povilaitis (Jefferson, NJ) registered a career-high 17 saves in the setback for the Devils, while Trevor Arnone (Poughkeepsie, NY) won eight face-offs on the night.

FDU-Florham will return to action next Wednesday, March 9 with a non-conference game at home against Kean University at 7:00 pm.
