Reading, PA (December 2) – The FDU-Florham Men's Basketball team traveled to MAC Commonwealth foe, Albright, and was defeated in non-conference action by a score of 91-66.
After today's contest, FDU-Florham falls to an overall record of 3-5, while Albright improves their record to 4-2 this season.
The Devils saw three players with 10 points each, but it was first year,
Christopher Smith (Florham Park, NJ) who led the devils in scoring with fourteen points and six rebounds.
Brian Nichols (Roxbury, NJ),
Carson Woods (Phoenix, AZ.) and
Michael Dabas (Middletown, NJ) each contributed 10 points to the scoreboard.
It was a battle on the court for the first five minutes of the game, as each team traded baskets until Albright was able to jump out to a 16-point led, 30-14, with ten and a half minutes remaining in the first half.
A layup by
Smith and a jumper by
Woods was the spark that FDU-Florham was hoping for to build the momentum back, but it was not strong enough as Albright went on a 20-4 run to help close out the half 50-25.
FDU-Florham was able to come out of halftime ready score as they made two of three field goals, within the first minute of the second half.
Albright was able to carry the momentum from the first half into the second and brought the score to 89-50, for their largest lead of the night, with six minutes remaining.
Two first-year Devils tried to help fill in the hole with a three-pointer by
Ethan Klueh (Orlando, Fla.) as well as another three-pointer by
Aidan Shea ( Salt Lake City, Utah). However, FDU-Florham was not able to come back and suffered the 91-66 loss to Albright.
FDU-Florham shot 41.4-percent (29-for-70) from the floor, 25.0-percent (6-for-24) from three-point range and 100.0-percent (2-for-2) from the free throw line, while Albright shot 46.2-percent (36-for-78) from the floor, 40.7-percent (11-for-27) from three point range and 80.0-percent (8-for-10) from the free throw line.
Albright scored 42 points in the paint, 19 points off of FDU's turnovers, and 33 points off the bench.
FDU-Florham will travel to Division I, University of Pennsylvania, for an exhibition game on Wednesday, December 6 with a tip-off is for 6pm.
