Women's Basketball Captures 75-51 Win Over Bard

SOUTHMadison, NJ (November 21) – The FDU-Florham Women's Basketball team opened up play on Roger Kindel court, as they hosted Bard for Tuesday evening non-conference action. The Devils captured a 75-51 victory over Bard, as well as the program's first win on Roger Kindel Court.

With this win, FDU-Florham improves its overall record to 2-3, while Bard suffers its first loss of the year moving to 2-1 overall.

The Devils had five players in double-digit scoring figures, however the leading scorer was first year Neysa Aguilar (Middlesex, NJ) as she reached a total of twenty-four points, four assists, and three rebounds. Beside her was Gabrielle Walker (Old Bridge, NJ), as she dished out five assists with six rebounds and twelve points.

Sinking shots for Bard was Shirley Dong, as she collected seventeen points and three assists.

FDU-Florham set the tone of the game with a quick layup off the tip-off, to go up within the first six seconds of the game. The Devils kept the pace as they jumped out to a 6-3 lead, but Bard kept up as the score was tied 13-13 with 5:28 left in the first quarter.

The Devils were able to regain control before the end of the first quarter as the score was in favor of the Devils, 28-21.

FDU-Florham wasted no time extending its lead as they scored a 7-0 run at the 5:45 timestamp. Carla Seyfarth (South Brunswick, NJ) defended the paint and added six of her ten points while helping contain Bard to a total of seven points in the second quarter, 25-45.

Continuing the momentum from the first half into the second was the Devils as they saw their biggest lead of night in the third quarter. After a mid-ranged jumper from sophomore Abigail Rodriguez (Woodbridge, NJ) a difference of 34 points was seen on the score board, with a little more than a minute to play in the third quarter.

Bard gave it their best effort in the fourth quarter after sinking three three-pointers, in hope it would build their momentum and slow down the Devils. FDU-Florham was able to push past Bard's scoring burst of 18 points for a 75-51 victory.

FDU-Florham shot 49.2-percent (32-for-65) from the floor, 27.8-percent (5-for-18) from three-point range and 75.0-percent (6-for-8) from the free throw line, while Bard shot 33.3-percent (19-for-57) from the floor, 45.0-percent (9-for-20) from three point range and 33.3-percent (4-for-12) from the free throw line.
