Madison, NJ (December 6) – The FDU-Florham Women's Basketball team hosted Lehman College for their first of six home games in December and posted a 83-64 non-conference win.
For the first time since the 2019-20 season, FDU-Florham has an overall .500 record of 3-3. Lehman dropped to 0-7 on the season after tonight's loss to the Devils.
Lighting it up from behind the arc was first years
Neysa Aguilar (Middlesex, NJ) and
Christina Centeno (Bayonne, NJ), as they each collected 19 points and were on fire from three-point range.
Centeno was seen going 5-8 on three-pointers while
Aguilar went almost perfect with 3-4 three pointers made.
Lehman's leading scorer was Ramatoulaye Diallo as she carried 38 points and nine rebounds in tonight's contest.
The game started out with both teams trading baskets, with the Devils taking a slight lead until 4:41 was remaining in the first quarter. With the score tied at 13-13,
Aguilar knocked down two from three-point land to give FDU the momentum to finish out the quarter ahead by a score of 28-15.
FDU-Florham showed that the momentum carried in to the second quarter, as they went on a 12-2 runin a span of six minutes. A point differential of 22 was seen between the two teams at halftime.
A team effort by
Gabrielle Walker (Old Bridge, NJ), Julia Vazquez (Bound Brook, NJ), and
Carla Seyfarth (South Brunswick, NJ) combined for 14 points to help maintain the lead and a score of 68-46 at the end of the third quarter.
The Devils were able to keep a comfortable pace in the fourth quarter as they led by 29 points for the largest led of the night. First year's
Ella Doud (Fairfield, NJ) and
Trinity Hartung (Hamburg, NJ) helped keep that pace by scoring their first collegiate points by a free throw and a fast break layup.
FDU-Florham ended Wednesday evening non-conference action with a 83-64 win over Lehman.
FDU-Florham shot 48.6-percent (35-for-72) from the floor, 44.4-percent (8-for-18) from three-point range and 83.3-percent (5-for-6) from the free throw line, while Lehman shot 43.3-percent (26-for-60) from the floor, 11.8-percent (2-for-17) from three point range and 58.8-percent (10-for-17) from the free throw line.
The Devils scored 44 points in the paint, 25 points off of Lehman's turnovers, and 21 bench points.
FDU-Florham will remain in Madison as they are set to host Trinity Washington on Saturday, December 9. Tip-off is set for 1pm.
