Madison, NJ (December 9) – The FDU-Florham Women's Basketball team competed against Trinity Washington for non-conference action on Roger Kindel Court and claimed their second win of the week with a 70-29 final score.
The Devil moved to an overall record of 4-3, while Trinity Washington fell to 0-9 on the season.
Leading the Devils in the scoring margin was first year,
Neysa Aguilar (Middletown, NJ) as she collected thirteen points and seven rebounds, along with dishing out six assists.
Christina Centeno (Bayonne, NJ) added twelve points and four rebounds to the Devils' book.
For Trinity Washington, Brenae Ford led with 19 points and four rebounds. Victoria Murdock collected 18 rebounds for a game high.
Trinity owned the opening tip and the first basket of the game as the layup was scored after a minute of play. FDU-Florham was able to take back the lead, 6-5, at the five minute mark after
Gabrielle Walker (Old Bridge, NJ) made a driving layup. The Devils were able to pull ahead and end the quarter at a score of 20-11.
The Devils were able continued to knock down shots and convert on turnovers as they scored six points on the fast break. Trinity was able to close the lead to a difference of five points, 30-25, with four minutes to play.
After two quick jumpers from
Shannon Tighe (Wayne, NJ) and
Carla Seyfarth (South Brunswick, NJ) the momentum began to build and the Devils added an additional ten points to end the second quarter 40-25.
With a 15-point lead heading into the third quarter, FDU-Florham continued the momentum as they went on a 9-0 run after a three pointer
Tighe. Trinity Washington answered with a three pointer of their own to make the score 49-28, with five minutes and thirty-four seconds to play.
After trading baskets for the remainder of the third quarter, FDU was able to close out the period with a 17-point advantage and a score of 55-38.
The Devils owned the fourth quarter as well by outscoring Trinity Washington 15-11.
Kayla Felicia (Shamong, NJ) capped the 70-49 win by scoring her first collegiate points off a free throw and a layup.
FDU-Florham shot 40.0-percent (30-for-75) from the floor, 18.8-percent (3-for-16) from three-point range and 58.3-percent (7-for-12) from the free throw line, while Trinity Washington shot 32.8-percent (21-for-66) from the floor, 14.3-percent (2-for-14) from three point range and 35.7-percent (5-for-14) from the free throw line.
FDU-Florham scored 42 points in the paint, 17 points off of Trinity Washington's turnovers, and 21 fast break points
FDU-Florham face Bryn Athyn on Wednesday, December 13 for a non-conference contest. Tip-off is set for 7pm.
