Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Defeated by St. Joseph's- Long Island, 79-63

Boston, MA. (November 19) – Day two of the Emmanuel Tip-Off Tournament and the FDU-Florham Women's Basketball Team faced St. Joseph's college for non-conference action that resulted in a 79-63 loss for the Devils. 

FDU-Florham drops to an overall record of 1-3, as St. Joseph's-Long Island improved to 2-1 overall on the season.  
 
First year, Neysa Aguilar (Middlesex, NJ) was the Devils' leading scorer as she had eighteen points and eight rebounds, along with three assists. Shannon Tighe (Wayne, NJ) collected her third double-double of the season as she recorded 14 points with 15 rebounds.

St. Joseph's-Long Island's Megan Spina was seen shooting from behind the arc  with 27 points and 5 rebounds.

The First quarter started with a statement from the Golden Eagles as they sank a three-pointer just 24 seconds into the game. FDU-Florham was able to answer quickly with two free throws from Gabrielle Walker (Old Bridge, NJ). St. Joseph's found a second wind of momentum and went on a 16-0 run through the middle of the first quarter.

FDU-Florham's Tighe started to catch fire as she scored six of her fourteen points in the second quarter to help the Devils close the scoring gap before the half.  Carla Seyfarth (South Brunswick, NJ) added four points in the final two minutes of the quarter to end the half at a score of 40-22.

The Devils started to close the scoring gap within the third quarter, as the scoring differential was within 10 points, with six minutes still to play. St. Joseph's- Long Island regained control of the ball and was able to knock down shots to bring the score back up to 67-41 at the end of the third quarter.

St. Joseph's- Long Island jumped out to an early start in the fourth quarter with a fast break layup off a missed Devils' three-pointer in the first 13 seconds. Throughout the final nine minutes of non-conference action, shots were being converted to points as Devils Neysa, Tighe, and Walker closed the gap to 16-point differential at the end of regulation time.

FDU-Florham ultimately lost by a score of 79-63 to the Golden Eagles in the final game of the Emmanuel College Tip-Off Tournament.

FDU-Florham shot 31.3-percent (21-for-67) from the floor, 11.1-percent (2-for-18) from three point range and 59.4-percent (19-for-32) from the free throw line, while St. Joseph's-Long Island shot 44.6-percent (29-for-65) from the floor, 48-percent (12-for-25) from three point range and 52.9-percent (9-for-17) from the free throw line.

St. Joseph's-Long Island scored 28 points in the paint, 21 fast break points, and 19 bench points.
 
FDU-Florham will return to Madison in preparation of its non-conference match-up on Tuesday, November 21. The Devils will host Bard at 6pm for their home opener.
