Men’s Basketball Edged by Drew in Rose City Classic Final, 90-65

Madison, NJ (November 18) - The FDU-Florham men's basketball (2-4) team was edged during their matchup in the Rose City Classic Championship game against Drew, 90-65 on Saturday evening.
 
The Devils were led by Carson Woods (Phoenix, AZ), who tallied 18 points with Jamal Santana (Randolph, NJ) and Michael Morrissey (Pearl River, NY) each tallying 11 points on the night. Christopher Smith (Florham Park,NJ) also got into double-digit points with 10 as well as leading the team in rebounds with eight.
 
Drew opened the game with a 14-6 lead early in the first half. Soon after, the Devils went on an eight-point run to tie the game 14-14 at the 11:20 minute mark. That run included baskets from Michael Dabas (Middletown, NJ) and Morrissey. However, Drew then went on an unanswered 11-point run that allowed them to take the lead 25-14 9:16 timestamp. In attempt to catch up, baskets were made from Woods, Smith, and Brian Nichols (Roxbury, NJ). The Rangers were able to hold onto their lead ending the first half with a score of 44-29.
 
FDU opened the second half with a 10-6 run that made the score 50-39. That run included eight points from Woods. The Rangers answered right back at the 13-minute mark with a 11-3 run to increase their lead 66-49.  After a few baskets from Woods, Dabas, and Nichols, Drew scored an 14 unanswered points to extend their lead 80-54. The Devils only outscored Drew 11-10 down the stretch and ultimately fell to Drew, 90-65.
 
As a team, FDU-Florham shot 50 percent (28 for 56) from the floor, 20 percent (2 for 10) from the three-point range, and 53.8 percent (7 for 13) from the free-throw line. The Devils tallied 48 points in the paint, 23 points off the bench, and 12 points off turnovers.
 
Drew shot 44.9 percent (31 for 69) from the floor, 33.3 percent (12 for 36) from the three-point range, and 64 percent (16 for 25) from the free-throw line. They totaled 30 points in the paint, 29 points off the bench, and 26 points off turnovers.
 
FDU-Florham returns to the court when they travel to Medgar Evers on Tuesday, November 28. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
