Men’s Basketball Secures First Win on Kindel Court Against Pratt, 77-61

Madison, NJ (November 17) - The FDU-Florham men's basketball (2-3) team was led by Christopher Smith (Florham Park, NJ), who registered 20 points to help the Devils win their first game on Roger Kindel Court against Pratt Institute during the Rose City Classic, 77-61.
 
The Devil's win was also accredited to the play of Carson Woods (Phoenix, AZ), who tallied 15 points to follow. Andrew Piombino Jr. (Rockaway, NJ) and James Zingaro (Stratford, NJ) also reached double digit points with 13 and 11. Smith and Piombino both led the team defensively, totaling eight rebounds on the night. Pratt had three of their players reach double digit points, being led by Cameron Windt with fifteen points.
 
FDU opened with a six-point run that ended at the 18:21 minute mark, the run included baskets from Smith and Zingaro. To end that run, Pratt scored a three-pointer that allowed them to take the lead 7-6. However, Woods soon answered back sinking a three-pointer to take the lead back, 9-2. Throughout the first half there were baskets from Piombino, Smith, Woods, Brian Nichols (Roxbury, NJ), and Michael Dabas (Middletown, NJ). For the remainder of the first half, both teams went back-and forth on the court but it ended with Pratt in the lead, 36-35.
 
Pratt opened the second half with a successful layup from Justin Caver off a turnover. The Devils then went on to a 13-6 run with baskets from Zingaro, Woods, Smith, Dabas, and Piombino. This run made the score 50-44. Pratt ended up tying the game at the 11:37 mark, but the Devils went on a 22-9 run, started by a layup from Michael Morrissey (Pearl River, NY), making the score 77-59. Despite the comeback attempt from Pratt, the Devils were able to rally and get their first win on Roger Kindel Court, 77-61.
 
As a team, FDU-Florham shot 44.3 percent (31 for 70) from the floor, 26.7 percent (4 for 15) from the three-point range, and 78.6 percent (11 for 14) from the free-throw line. The Devils tallied 50 points in the paint, 24 points off the bench, and 125 points off turnovers.
 
Pratt shot 36.8 percent (21 for 57) from the floor, 21.4 percent (3 for 14) from the three-point range, and 69.6 percent (16 for 23) from the free-throw line. They totaled 34 points in the paint, 17 points off the bench, and 19 points off turnovers.
 
FDU-Florham returns to the court on Saturday, November 18 where they will compete against Drew University in the Rose City Classic. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
