Madison, N.J. (November 12 ) – The FDU-Florham men's soccer team hosted New Jersey City University (NJCU) for the quarter final round of the DIII ECAC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament and defeated the Gothic Knights by a score of 3-1 in penalty kicks, after tying 3-3 in regulation and overtime.

Both teams were on the attack in the first half, as the Gothic Knights totaled seven shots and the Devils recorded five shots and many looks for scoring opportunities.
The first goal of the game was scored in the 17th minute as
Drilon Toska (Lincoln Park, NJ) received the pass from
Oliver Trujillo (Bridgewater, NJ) and was able to take aim at the bottom left corner of the net.
Just seven minutes later, the Devils were able to convert for another goal in the 23rd minute. After
Faizan Arshad 's (Boonton, NJ) shot and save on goal,
Ryan Maguire (Toms River, NJ) found the ball floating in the air and headed the ball in to go up 2-0.
NJCU was able to put up a goal on the score board In the 28th minute of the match, when Maximo Vargas headed the ball in, off the cross-field pass from his teammate 2-1.
Before the half expired, NJCU was able to record their second goal of the day to tie the score at 2-2, with seven minutes to play in the half. A NJCU player was able to draw the goalie out of the box and then sent the ball to the back of the net.
Opening the second half with a goal was the Devils, as
Toska's shot was sent to the back of the net like a rocket, after dribbling around his defenders in the early moments of the 47th minute.
The game tying goal came at 16:34 timestamp when the Gothic Knights were awarded a penalty kick off a foul within the goalie box. NJCU's shot was converted, tying the score at 3-3.
The score remained in a tie at the end of regulation, forcing both teams to two ten-minute overtime periods to decide a winner.
Unfortunately, a winning team was not able to be decided in both overtime periods, resulting in the match moving to a penalty kick shootout.
The Devils were able to convert on their shots in the shootout as they took home the 3-3 victory after penalty kicks with a score of 3-1.
Anthony Petrucci (West Orange, NJ) collected the win in goal for FDU-Florham after stating six saves in regulation and overtime, as well as three critical saves in the penalty shootout.
The Devils will advance to the semi-finals of the ECAC Tournament and face #1 seed Alvernia on Saturday, November 18. A time and location are still to be determined.
