Hoboken, N.J. (October 25) – The FDU-Florham field hockey team fell in its road MAC Freedom game at Stevens, 8-1 on Wednesday night.

It only took Stevens 40 seconds to get themselves on the board first when Makenna Quigley found Sarah Korczukowski on a penalty corner to take a 1-0 lead early. The next goal was not far apart for the Ducks as Sophia Cozza collected her own rebound shot off a penalty corner and put it in the back of the cage at the 2:11 mark for a 2-0 lead.
Stevens extended its lead to 4-0 in the second period when Emily Smart found Jess Kopernick at the 26:30 timestamp and then Smart got another assist when she assisted Gabi Moroney for a goal at the 28:14 mark.
Dominique Rodriguez (Pittsgrove, N.J.) put in the lone goal of the evening for FDU when collected a rebound shot by
Rachel McHale (Montville, N.J.) and placed a goal in at the 29:14 mark to cut the lead to 4-1 to end the half.
The Ducks found a pair of goals in the third period. The first was scored by Quigley who scored on a double assist from Korczukowski and Cozza at the 34:43 timestamp and then Cozza fired in a shot off of pass from Smart at the 41:03 mark for a 6-1 advantage.
Stevens capped off the day with another duo of goals in the fourth period. Lynda Farinella scored at the 47:04 timestamp and the Korczukowski collected another goal, this time with an assist from Kopernick at the 55:09 mark to give Stevens the 8-1 victory.
Emily Prachthauser (Morristown, NJ) got the nod in the cage and made 11 saves on the night in three periods.
Adrianna Goodwin (Toms River, NJ) saw action in the fourth period and collected three saves.
The Devils were out shot by the Ducks, 36-5 (23-3 shots on goal) and four penalty corners to Stevens' 18.
FDU-Florham wraps up its 2023 season on Saturday, October 28 as they travel to take on Misericordia at 5:00 pm.
