Volleyball Downed in Three Sets to Arcadia

Glenside, Pa. (October 18) – The FDU-Florham volleyball team (12-12, 0-5 MAC) was downed on the road in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play against Arcadia, 3-0 on Wednesday night.

Rachel Reiter (Riverside, Calif) led the team in kills for the third straight match with four on the night, followed by Lilli Nawrotzki (Flemington, NJ) who collected three. Charlee Tarlac (Union, NJ) led the Devils in digs for the first time this season with nine followed by Charlotte Fruscione (Mahwah, NJ) who tallied eight.

Set 1: The Knights dominated the first set. They jumped out to a 6-0 lead before an attack error halted that run, but they then scored 10 straight before a service error halted that and took a 16-2 lead. At the 22-4 scoremark, Nawrotzki banged down the only kill for FDU in the first set as the Devils were eventually bested in the first set, 25-6.

Set 2: Fairleigh Dickinson showed more life in the second set as they jumped out to a 3-2 lead before six straight points gave Arcadia an 8-2 lead. Both teams went back-and-forth up to a 12-9 lead where Arcadia scored five straight points but was answered by four unanswered points by FDU that included kills from Reiter and Vanessa Freeman (Piscataway, NJ) for a 17-13 Knights lead. Arcadia kept FDU-Florham at bay and eventually took at 25-17 set two victory.

Set 3: The third set became more like set one with Arcadia coming right out of the gate with eight unanswered points before a kill from Jada Everett (Hackensack, NJ) made the score 8-1. The longest run of the set for the Devils was three unanswered at a 15-4 score as Fruscione had a service ace while Nawrotzki and Lindsay Davis (New Milford, NJ) each had a kill and cut the deficit to 15-7. Arcadia ended the match with a 10-2 to notch their third conference win of the season with a final set score of 25-9.

FDU-Florham steps back into action on Kindel Court, Tuesday, October 24 at 7:00 pm as they host Lebanon Valley for a MAC Freedom contest.
