Madison, NJ (October 18) – The FDU-Florham field hockey team was bested on Robert T. Shields against DeSales, 4-1 in MAC Freedom play on Wednesday night.

The night looked promising for FDU-Florham as they got on the board first when
Dominique Rodriguez (Pittsgrove, NJ) tipped a ball in front of the cage to
Julianna Medina (Lindwood, NJ) who snuck the ball past the goalie for a 1-0 lead at the 7:43 mark.
Towards the final minutes of the first period, the Bulldogs were able to find the equalizer as Delani Remp found Jordan Stong at the 12:30 timestamp to tie the contest.
A strong second period gave DeSales a 3-1 lead heading into halftime. Stong put in a goal off a rebound for her second goal of the day at the 17:24 mark and just over 10 minutes later, Stong collected the hat trick off a pass from Nikki Chiaradia.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Bulldogs wrapped up the scoring on the night with a goal at the 49:31 timestamp from Catie McGrath who was assisted by Stong.
Junior goalie
Emily Schlessinger (Asbury, NJ) posted a double-digit save effort in the loss with 11 during the contest.
DeSales controlled the game, holding FDU to just two shots and one shot on goal the entire game while they posted 27 of their own with 15 on goal.
FDU-Florham will honor their senior class on Friday, October 20 before their final home game of the season where they square off against Lebanon Valley.
