Elsayyid & Shyposh Shine for Women's Basketball in Setback at Pratt

Brooklyn, NY (January 9) – The FDU-Florham women's basketball team played a tight game against Pratt tonight, but ultimately fell by a 49-42 final on the road. FDU-Florham sits now at 0-10 on the season, while Pratt picked up its first win of the year and is now 1-12 on the year.
 
FDU-Florham first-year Abigail Rodriguez (Woodbridge, NJ) once again paced the Devils offense with 25 of 42 points for the visitors, while defensively Nour Elsayyid (Dover, NJ) registered 20 rebounds on the night, the most in a single game for the Devils since Hall of Famer Shalette Brown tallied 21 against DeSales University on February 27, 2016. Whitney Shyposh (Westfield, NJ) added 11 points and 18 rebounds for the first double-double of her collegiate career.
 
Kylie Grant paced Pratt with 18 points and 23 rebounds in the win for the hosts.
 
FDU-Florham scored the first three points of the game before Pratt answered with a 13-3 run to end the quarter up 13-6 after ten minutes of play. Shyposh scored four of FDU-Florham's six points in the first on a jumper and a layup.
 
Both teams scored the same number of points over the final 30 minutes of the game resulting in the 49-42 final. Rodriguez guided the Devils with seven points in the second, nine points in the third and eight points in the fourth.
 
As a team, FDU-Florham shot 19.3-percent (16-for-83) from the floor, 5.3-percent (1-for-19) from three point range and 39.1-percent (9-for-23) from the free throw line. The Devils scored 30 points in the paint and 16 points off Pratt turnovers.

Pratt shot 29.0-percent (20-for-69) from the floor, 28.6-percent (4-for-14) from three point range and 55.6-percent (5-for-9) from the free throw line.
 
FDU-Florham will host Misericordia University in MAC Freedom action on Saturday, January 14 at 1:00 pm.
