King's (Pa.) Defeats Women's Basketball, 87-27

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. (January 4) – The FDU-Florham women's basketball team fell to King's College, 87-27, in a Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) matchup on Wednesday evening inside McGrane Gymnasium.

King's (2-11, 1-5 MAC Freedom) saw 14 of its 15 student-athletes score at least one point in tonight's contest guided by 11 points from K. Shepherd.

FDU-Florham (0-8, 0-5 MAC Freedom) was guided by Abigail Rodriguez (Woodbridge, NJ), who posted 22 points on the night, one shy of her career high, to go along with six rebounds, four steals and one assist. Destiny Knight (Philadelphia, Pa.) added three points, while Nour Elsayyid (Dover, NJ) added a pair of points in the effort.
 
In her season debut with the Devils, Knight scored the opening points of tonight's game for FDU-Florham with a three pointer from the right side. King's, however, closed the opening quarter up by a 37-8 score. Rodriguez accounted for five of the eight Devils points in the first.
 
FDU-Florham scored five points in the second off a pair of free throws by Elsayyid and a three pointer by Rodriguez, but King's took a 50-13 lead into the break. The Devils put together a game-high ten points in the fourth, but fell by an 87-27 final.
 
As a team, FDU-Florham shot 19.6-percent (9-for-46) from the floor, 15.4-percent (2-for-13) from three point range and 77.8-percent (7-for-9) from the free throw line.

King's shot 45.3-percent (34-for-75) from the floor, 45.9-percent (17-for-37) from three point range and 40.0-percent (2-for-5) from the free throw line. King's held a 56-25 advantage in rebounds and scored 28 points in the paint as well as 23 points off turnovers and 56 points off the bench.
 
FDU-Florham will host Lycoming College on Saturday, January 7 at 1:00 pm in another MAC Freedom contest in the Ferguson Recreation Center.
