Women’s Basketball Falls at Home to Lycoming

Madison, NJ (January 7) – The FDU-Florham women's basketball fell in its Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) home contest against Lycoming, 78-32 on Saturday afternoon

The Devil's first-year guard Abigail Rodriguez (Woodbridge, NJ) continues to be the team's leading scorer, collecting 23 of the team's 32 points. Senior guard Erica Blackburn (Marlboro, NJ) added six points of her own while junior forward Nour Elsayyid (Dover, NJ) nabbed double-digit rebounds with 13 on the afternoon.

The Warriors posted its best quarter right off the bat in the first, outscoring the Devils 32-10 on 13-of-23 shooting, including a 17-2 run to start off the game. Lycoming's defense would then hold the Devils to just four points in the second quarter to take a 50-14 lead going into the half.

FDU came out of the half with the first points of the quarter on a three-point ball from Rodriguez but were held to just one the rest of the quarter as Lycoming went on a 21-1 run. The Devils outscored the Warriors in the fourth, winning the quarter 14-7 but ultimately fell 78-32

FDU-Florham (0-9, 0-6 MAC Freedom) shot 15.9% from the field (10-63) with a 12.5% shot percentage from behind the arc (3-24) and shot its best from the free throw line this season with 9-11 shooting for 81.8%. The Devils also collected 11 of its points off turnovers.

Lycoming (5-9, 1-3 MAC Freedom) made 41.5% of its shots from the floor (32-77), including a 55.0% three-point shooting percentage (11-22) and finished 60.0% from the free throw line (3-5). The Colonels tallied 36 of its points in the paint, saw 35 points off the bench and sank 25 points off turnovers.

Fairleigh Dickinson will hit the road Monday, January 9 for a non-conference matchup with Pratt at 6:00 pm.
