Men's Basketball Clipped By King's, 73-63

Madison, NJ (January 28) – The FDU-Florham men's basketball team fell to King's College (Pa.) by a 73-63 final in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) action on Saturday afternoon.
 
FDU-Florham (3-17, 2-9 MAC Freedom) was paced by Matthew Johnson (Oak Ridge, NJ) who registered a team-high 22 points, while Carson Woods (Phoenix, Ariz.) tallied 17 points in the effort. Brian Nichols (Roxbury, NJ) led the way defensively with a team-best 11 boards. King's (7-12, 2-9 MAC Freedom) saw four student-athlete produce double digit point totals highlighted by a 25 point effort by Will Johnson.
 
FDU-Florham took a 17-14 edge following a three pointer by Nichols with under seven minutes to play in the first half before King's ripped off a 14-0 run that featured four straight shots behind the arc for the 28-17 advantage. The visitors took a 30-22 lead into the break.
 
The Devils cut their deficit to as few as six points at 44-38 midway through the second following a three point bucket from Jamal Santana (Randolph, NJ) and to four points (55-51) with eight minutes left in the game following a layup by Johnson. King's, however, answered with an 8-0 run to balloon their lead back to 13 en route to the 73-63 road win.
 
As a team, FDU-Florham shot 40.3-percent (25-for-62) from the floor, 28.1-percent (9-for-32) from three point range and 100.0-percent (4-for-4) from the free throw line. The Devils tallied 30 points in the paint, 14 points off the bench and 11 points off turnovers.
 
King's shot 41.0-percent (25-for-61) from the floor, 38.5-percent (10-for-26) from three point range and 92.9-percent (13-for-14) from the free throw line. King's scored 18 points in the paint, 17 points off turnovers and eight fast break points.

FDU-Florham will return to action on Wednesday, February 4 at 6:00 pm as the Devils travel to Stevens for another MAC Freedom matchup in Hoboken.
