Madison, NJ (January 25) – The FDU-Florham men's basketball fell to Arcadia University by an 84-71 final on Wednesday evening in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) action inside the Ferguson Recreation Center.
FDU-Florham (3-16, 2-8 MAC Freedom) was paced by sophomore
Jamal Santana (Randolph, NJ), who registered a career-high 25 points to go along with a rebound, a steal and two assists
. Carson Woods (Phoenix, Ariz.) chipped in with 17 points, four rebounds and four assists, while
Matthew Johnson (Oak Ridge, NJ) tallied 15 points, six rebounds and a steal.
Arcadia (9-9, 5-5 MAC Freedom) was led by Jalen Watkins, who posted a 20 point, 15 rebound double-double. Nas Johnson tallied 23 points, four rebounds and six assists. Justin Money also added 18 points and three boards in the effort.
The visitors held a slim 13-9 edge six minutes into tonight's contest before they embarked on an 11-2 run to extend their lead to 13 points at 24-11 midway through the first. Arcadia was able to balloon its advantage to as many as 23 in the first at 41-18 before taking a 43-25 lead into the break.
Arcadia led by double digits for the entirety of the second half, but FDU-Florham was able to cut its deficit to just ten points late in the game at 81-71 to cap a 20-8 run that lasted five minutes. The Knights sank their free throws to end the game by the 84-71 final.
As a team, FDU-Florham shot 47.5-percent (28-for-59) from the floor, 26.9-percent (7-for-26) from three point range and 66.7-percent (8-for-12) from the free throw line. The Devils scored 38 points in the paint, 18 fast break points and 12 points off Arcadia turnovers.
Arcadia shot 53.8-percent (28-for-52) from the floor, 45.5-percent (10-for-22) from three point range and 66.7-percent (18-for-27) from the free throw line. The Knights scored 36 points in the paint, 12 points off turnovers and 11 points off the bench.
FDU-Florham will host King's College (Pa.) in another MAC Freedom contest on Saturday, January 28 at 3:00 pm.
