Center Valley, Pa. (January 21) – The FDU-Florham men's basketball team fell to DeSales University, 75-44, on Saturday afternoon in MAC Freedom action on the road.
FDU-Florham (3-15, 2-7 MAC Freedom) was paced by
Carson Woods (Phoenix, Ariz.), who posted 18 points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Jamal Santana (Randolph, NJ) added ten points and a team-high five boards in the effort for the Devils.
DeSales (15-3, 9-0 MAC Freedom) was led by Nate Ellis, who tallied 16 points, three rebounds and three assists, while Ryan Boylan posted 13 points and five rebounds in the winning effort for the Bulldogs.
Both teams traded baskets to open the contest and a three pointer by Santana gave FDU-Florham a slim 6-4 edge five minute in. DeSales led by just four at 27-23 with less than four minutes to play in the first before the Bulldogs ripped off an 8-4 run to end the half up by eight at 35-27.
DeSales shot a blistering 59-percent from the floor (17-for-29) in the second half and outscored FDU-Florham by a 40-17 margin en route to the 75-44 MAC Freedom win. The Bulldogs opened the second half with a 9-1 run and never looked back as they took their largest lead of the game at 32 points (75-43) before the final buzzer sounded.
FDU-Florham shot 32.7-percent (16-for-49) from the floor, 22.7-perecnt (5-for-22) from three point range and 63.6-percent (7-for-11) from the free throw line. The Devils notched 20 points in the paint and seven points off the bench.
DeSales shot 50.8-percent (30-for-59) from the floor, 27.3-percent (6-for-22) from three point range and 81.8-percent (9-for-11) from the free throw line. The Bulldogs posted 48 points in the paint, 38 points off the bench and 17 second chance points.
FDU-Florham will host Arcadia University on Wednesday, January 25 at 6:00 pm for another MAC Freedom contest inside the Ferguson Recreation Center.
