Allentown, PA. (January 21) – The FDU-Florham Women's basketball team fell to #6/6 nationally-ranked DeSales University by an 83-22 final on Saturday afternoon.
FDU-Florham dropped to 0-13 overall and to 0-9 in MAC Freedom play, while Misericordia improved to 16-1 overall and to 8-1 in the league.
The Devils were led by
Abigail Rodriguez (Woodbridge, NJ), who totaled 12 points, three assists and four rebounds, while
Destiny Knight (Philadelphia, PA) registered five points to go along with five rebounds.
DeSales senior Megan Bealer collected 16 points in just 18 minutes of play. She also contributed to the win with seven rebounds and three assists.
Whitney Shyposh (Westfield, NJ) and
Nour Elsayyid (Dover, NJ) both added points to the box score for the Devils. Shyposh contributed four points and seven rebounds, while Elsayyid added a point and rebound in today's game.
DeSales won the tip and opened the game up 13-0. Knight scored FDU-Florham's first points of the game on a jumper just inside the paint midway through the stanza. Rodriguez added five points before the end of the first, but DeSales led 22-7 after one.
The Bulldogs led 42-10 at the break and went on to win by an 83-22 final.
FDU-Florham shot 20.0-percent (9-for-45) from the floor, 18.8-percent (3-for-16) from three point range and 16.7-percent (1-for-6) from the free throw line, while DeSales shot 46.5-percent (33-for-71) from the floor, 39.1-percent (9-for-23) from three point range and 80.0-percent (8-for-10) from the free throw line.
DeSales scored 42 points in the paint, 40 points off FDU-Florham turnovers and 48 points off the bench. FDU-Florham scored ten of its 22 points in the paint.
FDU-Florham will be home for the next two games against MAC Freedom opponents. The Devils will host Arcadia University on Wednesday, January 25 at 8:00 pm and King's College on Saturday, January 28 at 1:00 pm.
