Madison, NJ (January 25) – The FDU-Florham Women's basketball team competed against fellow MAC Freedom opponent Arcadia University and fell in a 63-28 loss on Wednesday evening.
FDU-Florham dropped to 0-14 overall and to 0-10 in MAC Freedom play, while Arcadia improved to 13-6 overall and to 6-4 in the league.
The Devils were led by
Abigail Rodriguez (Woodbridge, NJ), who totaled 12 points, four assists and four rebounds.
Destiny Knight (Philadelphia, PA) registered five points to go along with three rebounds.
The first basket of the game was score by FDU at the 8:38 minute mark. Rodriguez poked the ball out of the defender's hand, then took it coast to coast to give the Devils their only lead of the night. Senior
Whitney Shyposh (Westfield, NJ) carried the Devils through the first half with six of the team's ten points. Shyposh also add five rebounds to her collection.
Arcadia's
Dayna Balasa collected 14 points while going 4-for-5 from three-point range. She also contributed to the win with two rebounds.
Erica Blackburn (Marlboro, NJ) and
Reyniyah Rogers-Carter (Maplewood, NJ) both added to the box score for the Devils.
Blackburn contributed two points and five rebounds, while
Rogers-Carter added two points and rebound in today's game. The result of today's conference game was in favor of Arcadia, as the Knights won 63-28.
FDU-Florham shot 22.0-percent (11-for-50) from the floor, 9.5-percent (2-for-21) from three point range and 50.0-percent (4-for- 8) from the free throw line, while Arcadia shot 38.2-percent (26-for-68) from the floor, 25.9-percent (7-for-27) from three point range and 66.7-percent (4-for-6) from the free throw line.
Arcadia scored 18 points in the paint, 22 points off FDU-Florham turnovers and 41points off the bench.
FDU-Florham's next game will be home to host fellow MAC-Freedom rival King's College (Pa,). The tip-off is set for 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 28.
