Doylestown, Pa. (January 18) – The FDU-Florham men's basketball team fell to Delaware Valley University, 74-43, on Wednesday night on the road in a Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) matchup.
FDU-Florham (3-14, 2-6 MAC Freedom) was led by
Carson Woods (Phoenix, Ariz.), who tallied 11 points and six boards.
Matthew Johnson (Oak Ridge, NJ) added ten points, two assists and five rebounds, while
James Zingaro (Stratford, NJ) tallied six points and a team-best eight rebounds.
Delaware Valley saw three student-athletes score in double figures highlighted by 14 point efforts by both Justin Savage and Tyriq Toney-Bailey. As a team, Delaware Valley held a 47-32 margin in rebounds and dished out 18 assists on 29 made baskets tonight.
Both teams traded buckets over the opening 13 minutes of play and FDU-Florham held a slim 20-19 edge following a three point play by Woods. Delaware Valley, however, closed the half on a 12-2 run for a 32-22 lead at the break.
Delaware Valley outscored FDU-Florham by a 42-21 margin over the second 20 minutes of play en route to the win tonight. In the second half alone, the Aggies shot 47.1-percent from the floor and 46.7-percent from behind the arc.
As a team, FDU-Florham shot 30.0-percent (15-for-50) from the floor, 16.0-percent (4-for-25) from behind the arc and 60.0-percent (9-for-15) from the free throw line. The Devils scored 22 points in the paint.
Delaware Valley shot 43.3-percent (29-for-67) from the floor, 31.4-percent (11-for-35) from behind the arc and 62.5-percent (5-for-8) from the free throw line. The Aggies scored 36 points in the paint, 17 points off turnovers and 23 points off the bench.
FDU-Florham will travel to DeSales University on Saturday, January 21 for another conference game beginning at 3:00 pm.
