Delaware Valley Tops Women's Basketball, 82-16

Doylestown, Pa. (January 18) – The FDU-Florham women's basketball team fell to Delaware Valley University, 82-16, in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) action on Wednesday night on the road.
 
FDU-Florham (0-12, 0-8 MAC Freedom) was led by Abigail Rodriguez (Woodbridge, NJ) with seven points and five rebounds, while Destiny Knight (Philadelphia, Pa.) chipped in with five points and four boards. Whitney Shyposh (Westfield, NJ) and Nour Elsayyid (Dover, NJ) registered two points apiece and Shyposh tallied a team-high eight rebounds in the effort.
 
Delaware Valley (9-8, 5-3 MAC Freedom) saw four student-athletes register double-digit points highlighted by a 16 point, five rebound, three steal effort from Sophie Chevres. Alexis Wright led the Aggies with ten boards tonight.

The Aggies raced out to a 24-4 lead after one quarter and led 51-10 at the break. Delaware Valley outscored FDU-Florham 31-6 in the second half en route to the 82-16 win. Knight and Rodgiruez teamed up for FDU-Florham's points in the first, while Rodriguez, Shyposh and Elsayyid scored for the Devils in the second.

As a team, FDU-Florham shot 12.0-percent (6-for-50) from the floor, 7.7-percent (1-for-13) from three point range and 75.0-percent (3-for-4) from the free throw line, while Delaware Valley shot 47.2-percent (34-for-72) from the floor, 16.7-percent (3-for-18) from three point range and 68.8-percent (11-for-16) from the free throw line. The Aggies scored 52 points in the paint, 40 points off turnovers and 39 points off the bench.
 
FDU-Florham will travel to #6/#6 nationally-ranked DeSales University on Saturday, January 21 for another conference game beginning at 1:00 pm.
